  • House renovation continued

    Today I asked to work at home because new carpet is coming in. After a day's work, 3 bedrooms and hall way are finished. What's left is living room and dining room. I put base boards back after the carpet is done.

  • I got my laptop back... good news and bad news

    I got a phone call from Purolator 3pm this afternoon. They told me there is a package for me to pickup. I know it is my dear Acer TM292LCi. I went home early and picked up the package at the Purolator office in the brick plaza. I was so happy that it is fixed, that is the good news to me. However, when I saw the repairing sheet, it said nothing wrong with my laptop since we test thoroghly with a test drive loaded with bundled recovery software, everything is OK. Well, that lead to the bad news... there is something wrong with my harddrive software-wide. I really don't know what did I do that cause the hardware not working problem. I think I have to reinstall everything to verify what Acer technicians say and then work on fixing the software problem. Since it's so time-consuming just to back/restore/re-install, I decided to buy a new bigger hard drive since my 40GB one seems not big enough and so that I can save some time for backup/restore. After I re-install everything, it looks my laptop is as fresh as new again. :) and :( I think I will have to spend some time on the laptop to install all the software I need on the new harddrive and move data from old hard drive to new one. I also ask Lilian to bring me a 2.5 inches hard driver enclosure so that I can find a room for the old hard drive. Overall, this isn't so bad, at least I know my laptop is good.

  • Congratulations! Jonas is one-month old today

    Today Jeff and Venes held a one-month anniversity party for their new baby Jonas. Tommy and Tina's family, me and Neil are invited. Jonas has gained about 1 Kg for his first month and he looks great. He is not crying very often and if he cries, he might be hungry and ask for milk.   • House Renovation continued

    On Saturday I started moving thing out of bedrooms to prepare for carpet replacement. Tina and Tommy came and helped me get rid of all the carpets on main floor. I also spent some time taking care of front yard. It was a pretty tired day and it made me think I should take more exercise. Finally we did most of the work. I will continue to clean up the floor on Sunday. Tommy will come on Sunday too to help me put on tiles in the entrance area. Here are some picture after the carpets are removed, sweet!

  • My Laptop is fixed and on the way back

    I called Acer today to check the repairing status of TM292LCi, it's Casey answer the telephone again. Casey was the one who took my case. He told me my laptop has been fixed and shipped to me on Friday. I should be expecting it to come back by Tuesday. Great! I can't wait to see it again. :):):)

  • Checking repair status for my Acer TM292LCi

    I called Acer America to check the repairing status for TM292LCi. The package had been delivered to them on May 10 and they are testing the laptop, no help needs from me. The whole repair process is confirmed to take about 10 days. Once the laptop is fixed, they will send me an email with the tracking number in it. I guess I will just wait for the email. If I don't get it by May 20th, I can phone them then.

  • House renovation continued

    George phoned me and said that the carpet color I picked won't be available until May 28. That's too late for me schedule. I asked him to check some other lighter colors of carpet but none of them will meet my schedule except for the original popular color one (indicated by red spot in the carpet sample picture). Since the color is not that bad, I think I will take it. We made an appointment 8:00 am next Wednesday to put carpet for bedrooms and hallway. When more carpet comes in, we will do that rest for living room and dining room. Thus, I will have to empty the house at least for bedrooms and hall way and put tiles in this weekend. I believe the new carpet will make the house look much better. The picture of tile is below:

    Here is the schedule:

    • May 12 - May 16: remove old carpet, remove base board, move stuff, put tiles on
    • May 18: put new carpet in bedrooms and hallway
    • May xx (sometime next week or early the week after next week): put carpet in living room and dining room
    • May 20 - May 25: move stuff back and clean up
    • May 26: Lilian returns with her mom

  • Picking up colors for carpet and tiles

    I left my off office early and go to Mill Carpet and Home Depot for picking up colors for carpet and tiles. I told Tina the other day that I could use the same color for carpet as their house in Edgemont, while after that I talked to Lilian and thought it would be better if I could pick up the color by myself, that's why I left office early today. We went to Mill carpet and selected a lighter color of carpet. Then we went to Home Depot and bought some tiles with pretty good color. George (the boss of Mill Carpet) wasn't in the office today and he will get back to me if the color is available for short notice.

    After discuss, we like the lighter color better, then we picked the color indicated by green spot

  • House Renovation started

    To welcome Lilian's coming back on May 26, I'd like to replace the old carpet for the house so that it looks brighter and feel better. I asked help from Tommy and Tina. Today Tina brought in a guy from Mill Carpet to meter the area that needs carpet replacement. According to Tommy's suggestion, we will put tiles in the door entrance area. The whole thing will be managed to finish by Lilian's return.
