Yesterday when I left my office and was waiting for the C-Train to go home, I met a really old friend - last time I saw him may be 12 years ago! His name is Sheng-Hung Wang 王勝弘. During 1993- 1994 when I was serving in the Army of Headquarter of CMC (Marine) of Taiwan, we were working in the same office. Oh god, that reminds me so much memory and all the fun stuff working there, and the names - 孟憲維, 李日昇, 張聖國, 管龍國, 郭佳銘(CLIPPER), 彭振興, 尹國正, 黃庭弘, ..., 主計處吳少校, 紀伯羽(I still keep those delicate paper aircrafts created by him), 三處黃世忠, ...
During the year working there, we did a lot of stuff, I was maintaining a logistic system (mainly for purchase approval) and has some data interaction with headquarter of Navy. The whole campus was connected by fiber network and we have many Novell netware servers (3.12, ...). I gained a lot of netware experience there. We also build many systems, like the BBS for officer domitory, one the same base a DSS system for commander office (re-implement in our platform instead of Windows 3.1 where is was orginally bought and installed), the system had even connected to the daily satellite map of army allocation..., a parking control system to know which vehicle is in and which is out, an un-released version of email system, a accounting system for 主計處(FOXPRO), we also joined a computer exhibition (資訊展) and we've prepared some demo for that, including a 3D earth model animation. And we sponsered a 現代五項比賽(騎馬, 射箭, 游泳, 馬拉松, ?) for keeping the scores, which we bring laptops with the contester.., we also experienced some wireless networking solution provided by HP, ..., I also experienced/saw a real copyright catching show when I go to visit a vender and the police came in and told them freeze then started looking for un-licenced software in their system, .... about 2 months before I left the Army, I also helped build a system for 帽子加工廠 (參謀長的太太擔任該部門的主管) during that time sometimes I drove 參謀長's vehicle in/out the campus and the guards saluted to me every time I passed them.....
Those are really nice memory!
